We put specialists in the GP seat

Our course content is guided by the learning needs of urgent care and frontline GPs and written and delivered by experienced specialists.

Too often lectures and educational talks by specialists are delivered without GPs in mind and a poor understanding of what resources we have to hand. Our team of GPs and specialists work closely with each other in order to ensure content is relevant for GPs, being mindful of the lack of time and resources generally available when assessing patients.

How GPiP started

Khaled is an urgent care GP and the founder and course director of GP in Practice. Through his years of work, he noticed that GP education covered either update courses on chronic disease, or emergencies like Basic Life Support, with little in between. The lack of courses dedicated to the teaching about urgent cases in general practice was the foundation of GPiP.

Our Goal

We want every GP to feel more confident when dealing with urgent cases. It’s not about knowing everything; it’s about closing the gaps in knowledge where it matters most. Being more confident doesn’t mean referring less; it means referring appropriately.

Tricky situations arise in many settings: urgent care, walk-in-clinics, and in the community; in clinics and on home-visits. These GPs and other primary care staff (trainees, clinical pharmacists, ANPs, and PAs) have little more than their skills of history taking and examination to guide them, which is why sharpening these skills is so important.

How do we get there?

We provide tailor-made courses delivered by specialists to help frontline GPs make the right clinical decisions. Enhancing knowledge in these areas through our courses will help to increase your confidence in these stressful situations; improving patient care, making appropriate referrals to A+E, and reducing practitioner anxiety.

We have all asked ourselves: “Can I be sure this chest pain is not cardiac?”, “Does this dizziness indicate a stroke?”, “I’m pretty sure this is orchitis, but can I be confident this is not a torsion?”. Our courses, delivered by experts, will help you answer these common and urgent questions. Book our courses today and become a more confident GP.
